Meet Joey
Joey spent the first several years of his legal career representing survivors of domestic violence seeking civil protective orders, divorces, and child custody proceedings at the largest provider of civil legal aid in the Midwest. Through this experience Joey was trained in trauma-centered advocacy in domestic relations litigation.
Since his transition to private practice Joey has leaned on his practical experience to grow his area of expertise into pre-marital contracts drafting pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements and doing guardianship cases for minors and adults with disabilities.
Joey has represented many diverse populations, is a bilingual Spanish speaker, and adept at culturally responsive representation particularly for LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities. During his time at Legal Aid Chicago, Joey ran the LGBTQ+ Anti-violence and Safety Project where he focused his law practice on supporting LGBTQ+ folks with obtain protective orders, divorces, family law cases, and legal name changes, etc.
Joey’s passion for his law practice, dedication to his clients, and consideration for their situation makes him a great advocate for your case.
